His wife will serve one year in jail for falsifying tax returns over a six-year period. I am guessing that she signed a joint return and may not have realized it was false. She also charged $171,000 on the campaign's credit card.
I wrote about ethics and integrity in my e-book, Leadership for New Managers: Book Two which, I assume, Jesse failed to read. It is available at http://smashwords.com/b/300090.
Here is an excerpt:
“Ethics indicate how a person should behave. Unethical behavior quickly destroys organizational morale and cohesion. It can also destroy an organization; the Nixon Watergate scandal and the Enron scandal, are just two examples. It undermines the trust and confidence essential to teamwork and goal accomplishment. Consistently doing the right thing forges strong character in individuals and expands to create a culture of trust throughout the
organization.”
I think that Jesse has destroyed his political organization as well as his political career. I am sure that he will be replaced by a Republican at the next election.
Bob Filner, the Mayor of San Diego, is in the news again, or still. You will recall that several women are suing him for sexual harassment. The Hooters restaurants in San Diego have barred him from their establishments. They have posted signs that they will not serve him. That is funny...and smart. It is funny because anyone who has ever been to Hooters or seen a Hooter waitress gets the joke. It
is smart because the joke is so funny that Hooter got free publicity on nation networks. Watch for others, like Starbucks to follow.
