Egyptian strategy may work like this:
1. During a popular uprising (Arab Spring) overthrow the
government.
2. Schedule general elections and allow political parties to form. Allow free elections.
3. After the elections, identify all the key leaders of the Brotherhood.
4. After one year, overthrow the government again and arrest all Brotherhood leaders and
hold new elections.
This strategy has worked in other countries. After the first coup, the opposition leaders identify themselves. You may have noticed that the army is killing protestors that support the former president, Morsi. The army accused Morsi of killing protestors.
Research shows that the majority of successful coups since 1991 have been followed by democratic elections. We will have to wait and see how this one unfolds. McCain is in Egypt and has called this take over a coup. That has legal implications for supplying aid to the country.
I see that Mayor Bob Filner of San Diego has another accuser. Once they have 12, they can make a calendar (http://clicktotweet.com/a313e). The search continues for one woman on his staff to come forth and admit that she was NOT harassed by Filner. It will be a surprise if Filner is able to accomplish anything for the rest of his term in office.
