I don’t think that Newt Gingrich is the person we should listen to for opinions. I was disappointed to see that CNN has hired him for their Crossfire show. I have little respect for the man.
He has married three times. His first wife was his former high school geometry teacher, who he married when he was 19 years old and she was 26. That should have raised a few eyebrows. In 1980, he had an affair and left his first wife. He married again six months after his divorce was final. In 1993, he began an affair with a woman 23 years his junior (no duh this time). Gingrich and his second wife were divorced in 2000. His wife alleged in an interview on ABC's Nightline that Gingrich suggested they have an open marriage. Gingrich has denied the story. He remarried again four months after his second divorce was final. He seems to believe in open marriages even if he denies it.
The man does not remain single for very long. He also doesn’t remain faithful for very long. He doesn’t keep his vows/promises. He is largely responsible for past government shut downs. His opinion is not one that I would honor. I guess Anthony Weiner and Eliot Spitzer turned down the job at CNN.
