90% of the population. The survivors form a rebel army and fight back. The rebels are aided by good aliens, called Volm, who provide high tech weapons to help fight the Overlords mechanical attack drones. Creatures called Skitters aid the Overlords.
As I was enjoying the show, I had this nagging feeling that all this seemed familiar-drones, rebels, overlords. Then I realized-this is the Syrian war, but with a sight twist. The Overlords are Assad’s government and army. The Skitters
are the soldiers provided by Hezbollah. If the US would provide high tech weapons and air support, we would be the Volm. Of course, we would have the best drones. I am thinking that the screenplay writers for Falling Skies are merely reporting the news as they hope it will happen.
